OUCH!

first off let me start off with delivering the pics of my hoopty

but damn what a terrible day snowboarding, i was in a great mood when i showed up to throw down big today and work on my spins....4th run of the day i decided to hit the 45 foot and 55foot kickers with just a simple grab, nothn crazy. the 45 i stomped! speed checked and went to hit the 55.....cought an edge or something at the lip and it kicked my board out from under me...
heres a pic of about the size of the jump(if you look at my previous pics of the jumps the skiiers are hitting, its the same jump), how high i was, and the position my body was in.

problem was that i didnt want to be in that position! and the conditions of the mountain is shit, its an inch of fake snowblown snow over solid ice. needless to say i feel out of the air very very high up, knew i was falling on my back, covered the back of my head with my hands and let my self hit the solid ice....well thank god i didnt break anything or hit my head but this is the result
FUCK!

after rolling around in pain i decided i was done riding for the day and that i was done riding my powder board off the kickers and pretending that i didnt need a board just for park.
powder board; arbor abacus:
I highly highly recommend that board if your balls deep in some serious powder and want to mobb.

But who am i kidding, im working with a 59" base of ICE and FAKE snow
So i went ahead and got myself a park board.

....funny thing is i JUST bought a helmet yesterday, never thought i would but i know since im getting much better it would be a good investment. Especially since i dont have insurance. And this mutiny helmet is so tits!
so from now on helmet everyday. and you should too.

Had yesterday off and there is this dope ski comp going on right now so heres some flics from it. these dudes were throwing down! saw some real nice stuff. heres the quote from northstars website "The North Face and Mountain Sports International are proud to announce The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series, a two-stop tour featuring ski slopestyle and halfpipe competitions. The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series kicks off January 6 - 9, 2011 at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in California.

“The North Face is excited to bring its big mountain heritage to the park and pipe competition scene with a series that will inspire up and coming athletes and drive pro level competition,” said Aaron Carpenter, Vice President of Marketing for The North Face.
The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series will dedicate one competition day to halfpipe and two days to slopestyle. Judging will be overall impression based on creativity, degree of difficulty, combinations, variations, style, and amplitude, with $40,000 in total prize money up for grabs. The competition at Northstar Resort is the last event that will count towards getting an invite to the 2011 Winter X Games, and will count on the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) points list to qualify for the Halfpipe and Slopestyle FIS World Championships in February. The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series will work in conjunction with the AFP on competition judging, with AFP General Manager and X Games competitor Steele Spence serving as head judge for the series.
"The North Face Park & Pipe Open Series is a great opportunity for amateur and pro riders alike. This is a gateway for amateurs to flow to pro level, and a platform for pros to continue to progress the sport in a fluid, lucrative environment,” said Steele Spence, head judge for The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series and AFP general manager. “The Park and Pipe Open Series brings legitimate ski competition to both sides of the country with Northstar Resort and Waterville Valley being top venues with quality terrain parks; and the AFP is pleased to be involved with the judging and athlete relations for this series.”
“We’re excited to have been selected to host the west coast stop of the inaugural The North Face Park & Pipe Open Series,” said Nadia Guerriero, Director of Events at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. “We’ve had a great start to the season with all of the recent snowfall, and look forward to welcoming both pro and amateur athletes to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in January!”"

New Years continued

Was a good day at northstar till around 11 when it started getting crowded but with the few inches of new snow it was legit. The skullcandy app is claiming NS has a 62" base with more snow expected tomorrow. hell ya!

New Years...

All I ever heard about was new years eve in south lake... But no one wanted to mobb on down there last night for some reason. We all ended up at this janky ass hotel called THe Cali Neva I think. The worssssst djs I have ever heard were there. But oh well...it's the 1st and I'm not hung over so what elese is there to do? Go snowboarding for a few hours and hopefully it ain't crowded!

First Week at Work

I wanted to start this blog to tell the story of the day by day life of a 21 year old guy living up in north lake. Working on a resort isnt as cake as i thought it would be. Its fuckn freezing up here, i was froze out of my car the other day when i was trying to go to work. It was 1degree when i first got up and the only door that would open was the trunk.....FML right...so i had to crawl through there to start up my car and warm it up.

The coolest thing so far at work has been getting the fresh tracks in the early early morning before the mountain is even open. Riding down with just the other lift ops at the very end of the day is pretty dope too

First Week in North Lake

First week here in north lake tahoe and its been hectic...The person i was suppose to move in with bailed on the who plan so i was homeless for the first week while looking for a place to live. Thank God a place came around pretty fast thanks to craigslist.
