Using Siri While Driving In California Is illegal

If you thought that Siri would get some special treatment in California because it was born in Cupertino California, you're wrong because it is illegal to use Siri while driving in California. Its possible that using Siri when driving is going to be illegal in many other states as well as countries.

San Jose Police Lt. Chris Monahan explains:
It’s legal to talk to Siri, as long as the phone’s not in your hand. But if you have to push the phone to activate her, or if you ask for directions and she puts them up on her screen for you to read, then California’s hands-free law says your’re breaking the law.
Regardless of the fact that Siri can be activated without actually having to touch the button through a wired or Bluetooth headset, reading content on the screen will still be considered a violation. For example if you ask Siri for directions, it would launch the Maps app and display directions on screen.

The law in this case states that if a device is held in the hand while driving, it is a clear violation of the law however one could argue that the iPhone 4S serves the purpose of a GPS device as well and when mounted in the car, its no different than a conventional GPS.

The law and technology have still a long way to go before they catch up with each other. Meanwhile, its always better to avoid a ticket, so keep your interaction with Siri when driving at a minimum.

Anti-Facebook Social Network “Unthink” Is Now Available For Public

A new Social network is now available for free , “Unthink” the new social network gave it self a name of Anti-Facebook as they removed the bad things in Facebook in their opinion .Their Goal is talking down Facebook and make the change in the social networks world , they are not a social network they are a social revolution network as they said.

You have the control , you have the power , “Unthink” doesn’t use you to make profit from advertisements and take the control of your data , you have the full power of your profile and so on .
“If we want to be free, we have to control our own communications…we have to claim that power,” CEO Natasha Dedis shouted with vitriol to the crowd at September’s Tampa Bay Barcamp (the un-conference), before delving into all the ways that Facebook does its users wrong.
She explained that the idea for Unthink came to her when her son wanted to sign up for Facebook and she read the terms of service. They were not something she wanted to agree to because they could change at any time. But for her son, that decision was met with a lot of anxiety. “He was really stressed about it, like he didn’t have a choice – he had to be on Facebook.” It was either be on Facebook, or be a pariah in school, she said. Whichever decision Dedis made, she felt like she was being bad mother.
A profile screen shot after sign in :

Unthink unlike the Facebook doesn't use personal data of users to be sold to a brand but they give you the opportunity to sponsor your page to tha brand you choose
“The number one thing that had to be ‘un-thought’ about social media, is who does it belong to? We need to own everything that we put on our page. We can be as private or as public as we want, as long as it’s our choice,” she said.
On Unthink, user data isn’t sold to brands. Instead, users choose a brand to sponsor their page, by way of an ad dubbed “iEndorse.” The idea is that a user will select a brand they feel some affinity with, and will then become an advocate for that brand. Users who don’t want to select a brand have the option to pay for the service instead ($2/year).
Finally there is an application to export you personal data from Facebook to Unthink like photos ,videos and personal information.

Apple Awarded Patent For 'Slide To Unlock'

If you remember the event when Steve Jobs revealed the first original iPhone back in 2007, you'll remember how the whole crowd was completely awestruck when Steve slided his fingers over the Slide To Unlock text to show off his greatest creation to the world. Now that tiny Slide To Unlock gesture is exclusive to Apple.

Here is what Steve Jobs said about Slide To Unlock back in 2007:
To unlock the phone, I just take my finger and slide it across. Wanna see that again? We wanted something you couldn’t do by accident in your pocket. Just slide it across – BOOM
Head of iOS Scott Forstall is named as one of the inventors alongside a slew of other Apple engineers including Imran Chaudhri, Bas Ording, Freddy Allen Anzures, Marcel Van Os, Stephen O. Lemay and Greg Christie.

The patent application for Slide To Unlock was filed by Apple in December 2005, over an year before the original iPhone was revealed in 2007. Now no other company will be able to use this gesture unless and until this patent is said to be invalid by court.

Battlefield 3 launches with 3 million pre-orders

Battlefield 3 is launching today across all platforms, and already EA is popping the champagne. The game has racked up roughly three million pre-orders, guaranteeing an impressive start for its sales figures. But, even with the impressive feat, the game will have to work all the harder to catch up with Call of Duty's mean sales record.

EA posted the pre-order news yesterday, claiming it's the biggest FPS launch in the company's history. The beta also set the company bar, topping its social online play record with nine million testers.
It's an impressive achievement, but worth keeping in mind that Call of Duty: Black Ops sold roughly 5.6 million on launch day. While predictions show that Modern Warfare 3 will easily top the sales figures of Battlefield 3, it's unlikely EA is going to complain about the millions of dollars it will be banking on DICE's shooter.

Sprint to Launch iPhone 5 Exclusively & Make $20 Billion Deal with Apple

According to Wall Street Journal that Sprint has entered into an agreement with Apple to purchase $20 billion iPhones over the next four years, that's about 30 million iPhones.

According to BGR sources that Sprint will get iPhone 5 exclusively which will be a 4G WiMAX device. What about AT&T and Verizon ? the two carriers would launch iPhone 4S and they will get the iPhone 5 some time in the first quarter 2012 as an LTE device. What about the carriers wolrdwide ? According to the sources iPhone 5 will be available as 4G HSPA+ device as noted in some recent rumors.

Here's the features of the iPhone 4S which will be announced tomorrow :
  • A low voltage Apple A5 CPU (it won’t be the same as the iPad 2 chip, clock for clock).
  • Updated front and back camera sensors. FaceTime HD in the front, 8 megapixel 1080p HD video recording in the back.
  • Multiband 3G Qualcomm chipset — North American & International GSM/UMTS/HSPA bands for AT&T and Global carriers, North American CDMA & International GSM/UMTS/HSPA bands for Verizon and Sprint.
  • NFC support
  • Metal or “premium” plastic on the back case.
  • Here is what my source said about the iPhone 5 that will launch as a Sprint exclusive:

  • Faster CPU.
  • Larger 4-inch screen, similar to LG’s NOVA display but higher resolution.
  • 1GB of RAM.
  • Slightly larger design overall but thinner, and a larger battery.
  • 32GB
  • iPhone 5 exclusive software and APIs (Assistant).
  • Dedicated Assistant button, possibly integrated with the new home button, “think gestures or a two-stage button like a camera shutter key)
The interesting in this report that we still have evidences about something called iPhone 5 ;)
